The Broken Sword Inn
Within Caras Edain, are several inns and taverns, the best known and longest running is The Broken Sword, known for decent prices and decent food. The street outside tends to be crowded with peddlers and the occasional beggar. The inn itself is a two-story half-timbered building, with a small walled yard and kitchen garden. Lit by hearth and torches there there’s a long table with benches in the center of the room and along the edges smaller, private tables. Oftentimes music plays in the evening and the plays stays noisy well past dark.
Accommodations consist of several rooms upstairs, with beds and wool mattresses, always toasty in winter from the kitchen and hearth below, and out the back a bunkhouse, which gets a bit drafty along with the occasional friendly mouse, but nonetheless offers shelter from the rain for wayward strangers.
The innkeeper Wymund Butturbur is a stout and scatter-brained man of silver hair and blue eyes, who's grandfather's grandfather's grandfather, Barliman Butterbur first opened the place early in the fourth age when the rebuilding of Annuminas began. His wife, Theda, is industrious though lustful toward the patrons. They employ several staff, though lately they seems to change week by week as the workload can be heavy.
