It seemed her question threw him and she watched him carefully for his reaction. When his whole body stiffened, it almost felt as if she had been slapped in the face. She assumed he was outright rejecting her and her ideas. And while she was still fighting her growing attraction to the Sindar prince, the fact that she was becoming attracted to him made this hurt like nothing else had. And while she was about to speak, telling him to forget what she had suggested, something told her to wait and see what would happen.
And she was rewarded when he explained that it had been a long time since he had reason to leave before now. Which made her pleased that he found her request enough reason to consider leaving the safety of the known. But what he said next made her think that there was something wrong in Doriath and her brow furrowed as she heard to him speak about guarded entrances and forgotten ones, especially when he said they could get in trouble. ”Has your King and Queen forbidden you to leave?” What sort of sovereign made their people live in gilded cages?
But he seemed willing to do so, and all for her. ”You would be willing to do so? For me? Someone you barely know? Why?” She watched his face eagerly for when he answered, figuratively holding her breath in anticipation for an answer. And as she did, she got a brief flash of him leading her down a staircase in the trees. A blink later and the vision was gone and in its place the growing idea of that while she would not be easily wooed by this Sindar Prince, she would eventually let him catch her.
