Set in the Forest of Neldoreth in Doriath, under the open air and sky, as evening falls, in Autumn.
Year 375 of the First Age.
"To the beeches of Neldoreth I came in the Autumn
Ah! The gold and the red and the sighing of leaves in the
Autumn in Taur-na-neldor!
It was more than my desire"
~Treebeard's Song
The leaves within the forest of Neldoreth were sighing, red and gold, ripping above with song of their own cast upon the breeze, as dew glimmered below like stardrops on the surface of already fallen leaves and blades of grass. This enchanted realm was as familiar as home to those who had once dwelled and slept beneath the branches of the beech trees, before the Thousand Caves had been delved, and known all by who now lived within the netting of Elvenesse in Doriath. The roaring of the falls of Esgalduin no more than a gentle whisper in the distance for their glade. A foggy mist from the lowlying hemlocks drifted through the fringes of the adorned autumn forest. Singing were the minstrels, instruments played, and elves bedecked in raiment unusual and mysterious wove between the trunks of trees with music lilting. What had begun in daylight, continued into the evening as night fell, and lights were lit by enchantment, hung and hovering from the branches of the trees above. No more than a seasonal celebration, but a celebration it was as time passed slowly for the elves, the changing of the year was still observed with merriment as nature held it's final display of glory. Elu Thingol, Melian, and Lúthien danced it the glade amongst their subjects, and for a short while, rising troubles in the outside world passed from mind. Even the loud and cold winds of autumn had died down to a murmurous warmth for now as the elves, young and old, enjoyed their night of merriment beneath the glowing trees.
