[Continued from The Marriage of Éofor and Éothain]
"My apologizes," he spoke to the couple they had bumped into and bowed politely to them. Formalities were always important, especially for members of the Royal House before resuming his dance with his lovely partner. Her hand felt tiny in his as they moved together once again. He had heard one time that a couple dancing is reflective of love making and he found the thought pleasing to him. Although he would never ask her to do such a thing, still the thought tickled his brain.
"It is rather warm inside, and we can still hear the music outside...and that way there is no danger of me making us collide with another hapless couple!"
"It is rather close on here," he admitted. "There is a lovely porch outside. I'd be happy to escort you outside for a breath of cool air," he smiled and held her hand as they moved away from the dance floor and out into the cool, evening air. There were a number of torches lit to provide lighting and to make it safe for people to see their way. Guards stood erect on either side of the double door holding elaborately decorated lances made for special occasions and marriages were indeed a special occasion.
"Arroch is yours?" She looked up at him as she slipped her arm into his, more a formality than anything. "I remember him as a colt, he was feisty and head-strong if I recall right. Is his master the same?"
"Yes, it is. Me," he replied proudly. "Headstrong and high strung but he is a reliable stud who has never let me down," he bragged on his pale horse. Oh, this is much nicer," Eomer took a deep breath as the cooler air surrounded them. "But don't let him fool you. Arroch can be difficult when he takes a mind to it. But I found that carrot sticks took his mind off whatever has irritated him, unless it is something bad, like an Orc. He has kept me safe from them many a time."
