I know Ceolmund rarely speaks of it. Though, I am surprised Runi has not mentioned it. It was only a few years ago—three, perhaps? An orc got a lucky hit on him, sliced his neck open. We had to haul him back from the plain. We…well, we thought he wasn’t going to make it.”
That’s terrible. I am glad that he made it. Runa is very skilled and Ceolmund was lucky to have her then and now. And that was true. Without Runa, Adanedhel knew Ceolmund would most likely be lost. The two were made for one another and Adanedhel always hoped that one day he would be that lucky.
Beorhtric chuckled as soon as he saw Adan writhing at the idea of Runa knowing about Ceolmund hating him. Adan wasn’t overly thrilled that Runa knew and what her brother saying was right. A wife would always find out somehow. “You did not expect Runa to not know? You did not mention a wife, Master Elf, but I assure you. They know everything that goes on in their household. Your mother, surely, is much the same.”
I am promised to someone, but no, I am not wed yet. That left a bitter taste in his mouth. Normally when he spoke of his betrothal it would but not as bad. It made him feel sick. The elf could honestly throw up just because of him stating his truth. He honestly never had the time to really get to know the elleth and the thought of just marrying someone he didn’t know bothered him. Ah, yes. My mother finds out everything, even if you try to keep it secret. I was hoping I would keep the peace in Ceolmund’s home by her not figuring out so quickly, but I suppose not.
The man seemed upset with Adan’s words, seeming to ponder on the whole Light and Darkness. Sacrifices will not be in vain and we shall see them once more in the halls. They are safe and at peace. Do not despair, my friend.
His horse seemed to not even pay much attention to the elf. He slowly stopped petting and just watched the beautiful creature instead. Adanedhel always loved horses and he had one back in Mirkwood. He honestly missed it and he missed his home. The feeling of homesickness came again and the elf looked even more frail than before.
”It was no problem, Master Adanedhel. Whenever you wish to look for horses, do not hesitate to find me. I will be happy to help.”
Thank you. You are very kind, indeed. Are you busy later on this afternoon? I know you and your friend here are most likely needing to be somewhere so I thought perhaps later I could find you.
