"Oh, of course! Please, don't worry about it, and I have some ideas...Aimon let's me handle the mares and geldings. A cart horse? So, not too big, then? Tell me what you were thinking about?"
Braeldia’s face lit cheerily, and Alodia felt the breath in her lungs fall still. She wished she could sink away, that she would not have to ask anyone for anything. Their family struggled, but they were proud. Asking for favors, as if begging for food crumbs in the shadows of the city itself…
Still, the blonde felt relief. Braeldia immediately began to wonder what precisely she could offer, and what Alodia was looking for. “Oh,” Alodia started, unsure what she was to say. She certainly did not wish to sound greedy; all she wanted was to be able to provide for her family, and not work Sibley into an early grave. “Anything, really,” the young woman started in a ramble, offering a vague shrug. “Something gentle, calm. The only work they’ll be doing is getting my cart to and from the markets.”
Alodia’s words, though, began to flow—perhaps too freely she began to fear, as the sound of her voice continued to filter past her lips. “Good with goats. And…children.” There was more than just the rowdy children of Edoras on her mind now, and her mind trailed to her brother and drew to lip a flicker of a frown. One could only hope his child had more sense than he did when it came of age.
“Not too old,” she added, shaking the small falter of mood from her shoulders and face, looking once more to Braeldia. “I…would like to keep them for a while.”
They simply could not afford to cycle through horses this regularly. They were barely holding their farm together.
