It was often what those of her blood did, to run when things got tough. As much as she wanted to be different than her mother, to be stronger, the blood ties ran deep. She was every bit the daughter of Nimrodel. And Arwen was keen to set up this interview, as if foretelling that she knew the two members of two different royal families would get along perfectly. Knowing the circumstance made her equally nervous, for she had not indulged in such games with any elf of the opposite gender. At best, Legolas may find her dull, at worst she would humiliate herself.
"Do not leave so soon, Mîrioniel. Forgive me for not giving you a proper greeting, aranel."
Mîrioniel turned sharply, upon hearing the voice, startled. She had no marked his approach, and now he had heard her intent to leave the party. Her cheeks flushed a soft pink.
"There is nothing to forgive." She responded kindly. He'd had a long journey, and she would be exceedingly arrogant to expect every elf to know of her name, or recognise her by sight. In some ways, being slightly anonymous was a welcome change. It gave others a fresh perception of her, and a chance to get to know her off her own merits.
"I see now why Arwen looks so pleased with us meeting."
Did he? Mîrioniel looked from the prince, to Arwen and back. Her good friend would know the perfect responded to these statements, how to create a rally of wit and flirtation. Mîrioniel was a novice, but had to take some inspiration from her friend. If this was going to be a pleasant gathering with no awkwardness, she was going to have to try.
"Oh. And why is that?" She posed to him, raising and arched brow. Mîrioniel was curious to see what Legolas would say, what his opinion on this chance meeting was. Where his thoughts on what would happen lie. Returning to the table, she glanced up at the prince of Mirkwood.
"Please." She gestured to the free chair for Legolas to sit in, and sat herself down herself.
