Éowyn was seated at a small table that stood in her room, looking at the simple meal for two that had been brought to her chambers a few moments ago by a servant. It was unusual for the lady of Rohan to eat inside of her own quarters instead of the main hall, but tonight was an exception. While both she and her brother lived within the confines of the same hall, and they basically saw each other daily unless Éomer was out riding with the other warriors to defend the Mark, Éowyn found that it had been some time since she had properly sat down with her sibling and speak quietly without any prying ears listening to the conversation. She wanted to speak with him sooner after it had became quite clear that her brother seemed to be in love. Well, that was what Éowyn suspected at least. She knew well that her brother was no stranger to violence and the aftermath of the orc's cruelty, but before now she had not yet saw her brother to be truly in love. Lofty and bold words can be said while men drink together, but when your sister sits across from you and questions how you are doing, then that is another situation all together. This was her plan, and she had arranged with her brother to meet tonight.
As Éowyn waited for Éomer to arrive, she gave a glance to the only living soul with her in the room and the one companion who Éowyn had no trouble with listening in on the coming conversation. BADA was laying before Éowyn's bed on a blanket, his head focused upon a corner of the room like it was the most important thing in the world. The Deerhound named Bada had been the loyal hound of Éowyn for 5 years and the loyal companion followed her nearly everywhere whenever he was allowed, guarding over the young lady of Rohan like she was the most precious thing in the world. She was very fond of the beast in turn, and made sure to spend at least a small amount of time in her day to ensure that he received the attention he needed. She had played with the hound just a few moments earlier, and the beast seemed to be currently content with laying on his blanket, which suited Éowyn fine at the moment. She had a brother that needed the attention of her sister.
((Bada is an Old English name probably derived from beadu meaning "battle"))
