.The Facade.
Character Name: Einion
Name Meaning: anvil
Age: 21
Date of Birth: Summer, 2989
Race: Man of Dunland
Residence: born somewhere in the hills of southern Dunland; now travels about with his grandfather, step “grandmother” (eyeroll) and adoptive brother, throughout Rohan and its borderlands
Profession: a little of this, a little of that (meaning he hunts while they are traveling, provides some muscle to protect Gramps and his goods [and gold] and does a little ‘creative borrowing’ whenever they come near civilization)
Appearance: stands about 5'9", very muscular, barrel chested, long brown hair, light brown eyes, swarthy skin
Personality: Einion is a hale, hearty, hot headed fellow, quick to laugh, quick to boil over, quick to make a move before others see the opportunity. Where he may be lacking in cunning, he makes up for with brute strength and a relentless resolve. In some ways he is like a mindless bulldog - once clamped on he will not let go. Yet he has his own form of charm, and is good looking and able to talk his way into getting what he wants, at least with the ladies. This often leads to trouble, for his rarely thinks with the head on his shoulders.
.The Blood.
Parents: his mother, Morna, deceased; his father, unknown; his grandmother, Maeve, deceased, raised him; his grandsire, Talfryn, age 61, puts up with him; his "step-grandmother", Freahilda, age 20, tempts him
Sibling(s): one adoptive brother, Aelwyn, age 21
Spouse: n/a
Children: They may exist, but if so, he has not been made aware of it.
History: Einion was born of the brief union of a smith and a maid, neither of whom he ever had the opportunity to meet. His mother died shortly after bringing him into this world, with a sweet, sad smile on her face. It was her mother, the babe’s grandmother, Maeve, who had the raising of him, as she traveled about with his grandsire, Talfryn, through the realms of the western people. His grandfather was something of a snake oil peddler, a charlatan healer, a purveyor of forlorn hopes and desired cures. Einion was raised on the road, much as his poor mother had been. He was a hardy baby, though, and did well enough.
In the Fall of his first year, his grandparents came upon the burnt out remnants of a farmstead, in the far western edge of the lands of the Kings of Rohan. Whilst rummaging through the debris for anything salvageable, they came upon another babe, a boy, apparently the sole survivor of whatever raid had taken his family. They took him in, and raised him alongside Einion, and the two became as brothers, of an age, but one growing fair and tall and slim, the other far shorter, and thick and swarthy. Like pups in a litter they grew, and played, and fought and hunted together. Wild as wolf cubs, they knew no master other than their grandparents, and called no place home, other than the small wagon which held the small family’s earthly goods, and the grandfather’s questionable wares.
Boys grow to men, and so did Einion and Aelwyn. As men they still hunted for the family’s meat, and guarded the coins and other valuables their grandfather took in exchange for his curatives. He was getting older and grudgingly glad of strong, young arms and backs, and keen eyes. Their grandmother passed, several years back, and much they did grieve. But time, life and feet march on and Einion has matured to a man worthy of notice, if only in terms of his ability to wield an axe to good effect, and drink anyone under the table. He is hale, hearty and filled to bursting with the juices of life, much of which he tries his best to share with whatever women he can chase down or charm into his always temporary bed. To date, he has not questioned his existence, traveling about with his grandsire, his adoptive brother and now a relatively newly acquired “step-grandmother” – a young woman a year his junior. Her joining up with their tiny family is still something of a sore spot for Einion, and Aelwyn both. But it has not yet been cause enough for Einion to seriously consider parting ways with his grandfather to settle somewhere and take a wife for himself.
