So I don’t have the ability to make fancy plotter pages myself. But oh well. Welcome to Gram’s plotter!
Gram is a fourteen year old swordsman and former slave. He was horribly abused and treated as a fighter/stable boy to his master and a year ago managed to escape with his freedom. He currently has been adopted into the family of Heruthain, after spending much time on the streets of Rohan. He’s always open for more friends, allies, and brethren however. Especially as he is only very recently a part of true society!
Feel free to drop a post or PM if you wish to plot!
Runa is 27, and a healer at the hall. If Gram happens to get into a scrape, she is certainly available to help him heal.
Additionally, she is an avid bird lover, and can be seen about town admiring them when she is out and about. And not training at the training grounds with her swords and axes. =]
“The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.”
Beorhtric is a 33 year old horse master. He is a member of the Eored, but only because he was recruited for his skill with horses. His blade skill is...less than average when compared to the others of his company. He serves under his brother-in-law (ugh!) Ceolmund, and has a penchant for trying to help people.
He would see Gram as someone who was in desperate need of help, and he would be happy to be an older brother to someone else, that he might have a chance to not...mess it up so badly.
(Sorry, Runa and Ceolmund.)
“To whatever end. Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountains. Like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the west. Behind the hills, into shadow. How did it come to this?”
Awesome! I’m absolutely down for both ideas whenever you guys want to do either one! Just let me know. He can relate to Ber on the horses front especially.
Alodia is the biggest fan of goats in Rohan. Okay, probably Arda. 20, comes to Edoras once a month for a week to sell goats, milk, cheese, and goat soap at the market to support her family. Stop by her stall and maybe help her wrangle in an escaped goat.
“I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay, small acts of kindness and love.”
So a few characters to plot off of for you. I have a bit of a... what we have here... collection....... which seems to keep growing...
Ceolmund (31) is a stern Captain, horse and bird fancier, has a wife and kids... I would guess Gram could get some good training from him. If he's REALLY GOOD with swords and horses he might even get recruited. Never know what can come of that. He had a rather rough family life and was not in a good place when he was Gram's age, (though not as bad as his story!) so he could probably relate in some ways to the sad/lonely level too.
Leoma (40) is a crippled woman, lives alone, barely making ends meet; but also obsessed with maps and talk of far off places. She would be very excited to talk about places he's been and things he's seen, if he wanted to discuss it... and understands hunger... she finally has wrangled up a bit of work, so she has a little food in her cupboards now, so she'd share her bit of bread and tea with him.
Wynfled( (27) is what you could call the town gossip (or one of them, she is of a trio). She would be most curious what this vagabond was doing in Edoras. He doesn't seem the sort she'd invite over but she'd probably want to know as much about him as possible and probably ask him questions that are too personal. She makes soap. She might even pity the poor lad enough to give him some if he smells.
Cynburga (character coming soon) is a 70-something year old sassafrass. Incredibly superstitious but has good intentions. She likes to feed people, especially boys, baked goods. She has a folk remedy for everything, and uses a lot of lard and pig fat to fix things. She had boys which must live out on the plain somewhere... likes to talk about them all the time but they never actually appear in the story. She may have scared them away.
Talfryn (61) is a Dunlending (which is sorta the hill tribes that live in the region) witch doctor. He's all about selling his tonics and snake oils an amulets and other such things... walks around with his donkey cart from town to town and camps on the plains. Of course if Gram has no money he wouldn't be interested in doing business at all, but a plot where Gram steals something from him could be funny.
Freahilda (20) is Talfryns "wife" of sorts. She's kind of enslaved by him in a way, though she could probably easily run if she wanted; she's slowly stealing his money and saving up by stitching it into the hem of her skirts. She is kind of stupid. I'm not exactly sure what plot they could have together but she's usually always around Talfryn at the moment. One day she'll get away.
If anything strikes a fancy for now or later just let me know! It looks like Ceolmund is going to get dragged into your opener after a bit here so that meeting will for sure happen!
Where now is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Ohhh me likey all these options. You have a lot so I’ll have to brainstorm though! But yes definitely should be interesting to see what goes down with him and Celomund!
