There was a softness to Darelle as Theo agreed that Flint had good taste. “I am glad that you think so” She grinned at him in only the way a young woman that was flirting could. Darelle liked that Theodred was forthright and not wishy washy, dancing around the bush. That he would say what he meant. She appreciated that quality, it reminded her of … her thoughts pushed that name from her mind. That which was out of her reach for more reasons than one. She was happy where she was now.
Perhaps someday I can teach you to use a sword if you wished. . Perhaps he could. Her mind turned over the image of Theodred teaching her. “I would like that, you have to promise to start at the very beginning and properly show me each stance” her words almost sounded double entwined but she just looked so sweet.
Glee, that is what she felt when Theo said he would not mind learning. Basket weaving was a very hands-on learning process. “You shall have to make time for me in your busy life then my prince to learn such.” Well, that was bold Darelle, practically telling him he would have to make time for you.
Her reeds gathered nicely in her apron, yes they would make lovely baskets. She was already thinking of making one different than the others. The wind blew, kissing her hair and making the free strands dance. An errant strand of red moved behind her ear. “With your permission, spending time with Flint, I shall. I sometimes ride to the edge of grasslands, just out of sight of Edoras on my own horse. I think Flint would enjoy the company. It’s a rather peaceful ride and as far as I am allowed to go without an escort” Subtle...very subtle hint Darelle. Like a spider creeping along the floor.
Darelle’s heart fluttered as he said he would enjoy the company. Good.
“My company is always available to you, should you seek it, I am never so busy that I can not stop to make time for my future king” she meant every word. If he called, no matter the hour or what she was doing. Darelle would have dropped everything to see what Theodred needed.
Her parents would expect no less of her. They had hopes and dreams for their daughter.
Theodred would dismount off of Flint. Here, allow me to help you on to Flint.
A nod of yes, she consented to his help. With the reeds lightly held. Theodred was able to easily help Darelle up onto Flint. Oh if he could have seen her blush when he swung up behind her. Mindful that her backside touched his breastplate. Arms on either side of her, one hand with the reins. She smirked in a coy fashion looking forward to herself. They would have to trot right past Wynfled’s house. She loved Wynnie as the sister she did not have, Wynnie was sure to see the sight she was going to make on Theodred’s horse as she was. Wynnfled always had the town gossip before anyone else. Darelle was pleased as punch that she would catch this sight.
“Tell my prince, I noticed your men earlier were amused. Do you often invite women you do not intimately know to spend time with your horse or yourself” asking in a way if he was courting anyone.
