.The Facade.
Character Name: Sibi
Name Meaning: “Little Boy”.
Age: 25
Date of Birth: Spring of 2985
Race: Mûmak, also known as an Oliphaunt.
Residence: Kahf Al’asad, Near Harad.
Profession: War beast.
Appearance:
Grey as a mouse,
Big as a house,
Nose like a snake,
I make the earth shake,
As I tramp through the grass;
Trees crack as I pass.
With horns in my mouth
I walk in the South,
Flapping big ears.
Beyond count of years
I stump round and round,
Never lie on the ground,
Not even to die.
Oliphaunt am I,
Biggest of all,
Huge, old, and tall.
If ever you'd met me
You wouldn't forget me.
If you never do,
You won't think I'm true;
But old Oliphaunt am I,
And I never lie.
Big as a house,
Nose like a snake,
I make the earth shake,
As I tramp through the grass;
Trees crack as I pass.
With horns in my mouth
I walk in the South,
Flapping big ears.
Beyond count of years
I stump round and round,
Never lie on the ground,
Not even to die.
Oliphaunt am I,
Biggest of all,
Huge, old, and tall.
If ever you'd met me
You wouldn't forget me.
If you never do,
You won't think I'm true;
But old Oliphaunt am I,
And I never lie.
As the poem says, Sibi is large; he stands nearly 27.5 feet in height, and weighs close to 35,000lbs. His skin is thick, grey like stone or stormy skies, with large brown eyes that are as curious as they are expressive. Around his mighty trunk there are six curled tusks. Four are large and long, curling upward in a hook-like shape; the others are smaller, jutting more from the side of the face. While these curl as well, they are not so pronounced.
Sibi has light scarring on his trunk from the months of training to wear the war-barbs upon his tusks. Beware to those who see him upon the field of battle; he carries easily the tower of archers upon his back, and has learned to wield the barbs on his tusks that the masters put on him when they want him to work.
His playful, kind countenance is hidden when under charge, and his face is painted red, with black Haradric tribal designs.
Personality: Sibi is naturally inquisitive, exploring first by sight and then by trunk; he is gentle, for though the ground quakes as he walks and trees crack as he passes, he is more content to roam the fields and play with bundles of reeds than he ever has been riding into battle.
However, the affectionate mûmak is also loyal and bonded to those he deems worthy of him. Because of this, he is willing to carry the towers of archers into the frays he is asked to charge into, though loves nothing more than the weight of the tower being removed and being allowed to graze once more.
Above all bipedals, Sibi is loyal to the one that grew up at his side and gave him his name. Amira has been his closest and dearest friend for all of his years, though she disappeared a few years ago. The chief, the bipedal that claimed her as a mate, still visits him to take him on his long walks and rides, and with him come the small bipedals that smell like Amira. Sibi misses his Amira greatly, though, and he looks for her daily to return.
.The Blood.
Parents: His mother, named by the bipedals of the stable as Baqara (meaning ‘cow’), was used as one of Maalik’s breeders for a while, though his father has remained uncaught, and likely yet traverses the lower jungles in the far south.
Sibling(s): Sibi has two siblings that have successfully been bred from Baqara and two of the other bulls of the captured herd.
One, a female, is called Almas, diamond, for she is worth a great fortune. She has begun being used for breeding herself, so she no longer stays close with Sibi’s part of the herd.
The second is another bull, equal in size to him. Jabal, named mountain for his great size, is a mighty force upon the battlefield, though is not as docile as Sibi when off rein. Jabal often starts skirmishes amongst the mûmakil bulls that wander the grazing fields, and he has scars flecked on his skin from his bouts of battle.
Neither of Sibi’s siblings were ever bonded to the one called Amira the way he was.
Spouse: Mûmak do not have proper nuptials, though Sibi was asked to try breeding with one of the docile cows named Zahra, flower. It never worked.
Children: None.
History:
Unlike his siblings, Sibi was born on free land in the jungles of Far Harad. Despite the fact mûmakil have long-memories, he holds little recollection of the place he used to call home. Sibi remembers being content there, though when he did the Long Walk, up into the desert, he found something he thought even better: a friend.
The small human named Amira and he became friends quickly. He looked forward daily to her visits, for they grew up together, and they learned deeply and thoroughly how to read one another. Even training for the task the other humans asked of him was bearable because Amira was there. Sibi was always happy to see her, and she him; there was no count of time where they did not see each other for great lengths.
That changed around three years ago, though.
When Amira suddenly stopped visiting, Sibi grew despondent. He could not understand where she had disappeared to, nor could he understand why the small humans that smelled like Amira looked sad, or why the chief suddenly came to visit far more often.
The mûmak still does his duty, working partially as a war beast, though often grazes and sways. His human will come back, he is certain, and when she does he will be there to greet her; Sibi will never forget.
