Beorhtric, the Bear of Rohan

Character Name: Beorhtric, nicknamed 'Bear' by his sister.

Name Meaning: "Bright Power".

Age: 33.

Date of Birth: July 30th.

Race: Man

Residence: Edoras, Rohan. But is often riding with the Eored.

Profession: A member of the Eored.

Appearance: Bear is a tall sort, around 6'3", with a lean build in his muscle. He has shoulder length dark blonde/light brown hair usually pulled back with a cord, and has the same blue eyes of his family. He has a well trimmed beard as well, and looks very cleanly--except when he is first returned from a ride with the men. He tends to wear darker colors, favoring navies and greens. He generally looks very serious, and Bear is not known for smiling. A slight impression of a scar on his forehead from an axe of a Dunlending.

Personality: Bear is a very serious man. He is the oldest in his family, and takes duty and responsibility and "roles" very seriously. Family is his life, and he thinks of himself as the protector/provider for the four of them, despite the fact all of them have jobs of their own. He loves his sister very much, and thinks of her as his responsibility to protect. Because of this, he is disapproving of Runa's love of training with weapons, and has constantly tried to curb her interests into things more suited for a lady. He has made it a goal to find her a husband that will curb her wild ways, and is hoping that it will bring his sister a better life.

While a part of the Eored, Beorhtric hates war. He is not nearly as skilled with weapons as his sister, but he is an excellent horse handler. While Runa trains and enjoys wielding weapons, those that know Bear the best know he takes no joy from it, and the reason he is not as great in battle as much as his brothers in arms is because he is not as fulfilled by it. When he is not out with the Eored, he prefers to have quieter past times. Though, very few get to see this side of him.

History:
Beorhtric worked in the stables until her was picked out for his horse handling by a recruiter for the Eored when he was 17. They put him in the newest wave of recruits, a bunch of boys around two years his minor, and he made friends with one of them--Ceolmund. His little sister often followed them around after that, despite the fact Bear did not approve of it.

He has trouble knowing his sister has beaten him in sparring, and took all of Runa's rambunctiousness very seriously as she grew up. He set to work finding her a match that would be able to tame her wild spirit, thinking that those that played with swords would die upon them. He tried to get Runa noticed by a tailor, a tanner, a toymaker, and even a few horsemen in the stables, finally trying one of the calmer men of the Eored who was dreaming of retiring from the company. None of them worked, much to his dismay.

He has never taken interest in marriage, thinking that his line of work is too dangerous to afford a wife, and he is content to sit by the fire and read rather than do anything beyond the home. He still loves horses first, Rohan and his family second, and will resort to fighting if necessary, and he has no love of orcs or Dunlendings.
