History:
Havard is from a noble clan of Bardings, those who live under the Kingdom of Dale established by Bard the Bowman. His grandfather Hafual fought in the Battle of Five Armies, and was granted a title and estate by King Bard on the outskirts of the city of Dale. Shortly after Havard's birth, his father, Hadding, slew a fellow Lord in a heated dispute. Because of the victim's prominence, the weregild was set too high, and Hadding was banished from Dale. However, the Elvenking Thranduil generously paid the weregild, but made Hadding swear an oath that he would pledge his first-born son to defend the Elven realm, at the Elves' discretion.
Hadding, himself a renowned warrior, taught Havard the ways of warfare from a young age. Eventually, Havard was conscripted into the army of Dale, and there he decided to remain, as he found the lifestyle suited him. Through the years, he rose to the rank of Captain, while also acquiring a reputation for daring and audaciousness. He would willingly engage in frequent tests of strength and endurance with the other soldiers, as well as his brothers. These feats eventually culminated in Havard wrestling a young bear, giving him the recognizable scar on his face.
In T.A. 3010, Havard continues to faithfully serve the new King of Dale, Brand. Upon his father's death, Havard looks to the realm of the Wood-elves in order to settle his family debt.
