Vanya is graced with long blonde Hair light in color and formed naturally into loose ringlets and curls reaching down to the back of her ankles. Usually kept in a long loose braid due to her swift pace through the woods and during fighting and hunting. She is graced with eyes often described as fierce sky blue. Her skin is pale and soft like most elves, healthy and unblemished by scars or the signs of age like non-elves often have. Her face is softly angled and very feminine paired with a soft nose, and full lips giving her a child-like face which she uses to draw in and fool others that she runs into. Her body is tall, thin, and lithe yet soft in appearance, seemingly unable to fight or be strong enough to break a few bones in her enemies. Their mistake.

In one word, untamed. Being in the woods and away from the more civilized of her kind, Vanya has grown wild and even like a part of nature herself. While she may be wild she also has a curiosity about her for the 'others' who inhabit the woods around her. This curiosity can often get her caught or in trouble due to her lack of knowing their ways and culture which leaves her at a disadvantage to even make them allies or to blend in with them as perhaps she should. Not that Vanya would, of course. Those societies that constrain and make rules and punishments repel her like oil and water; nature is freedom and she yearns to dwell with it.
Being wild isn't all that defines her, inside Vanya is kind and soft, feminine even, despite her wild tomboy-ish behavior. Often she fantasizes of being like the other elven ladies... minus the rules and such, perhaps it's just for the look of being a Lady. She is capable of being loving, but only to those she can connect with and feel that they are safe since most people are threats until proven otherwise. While she has little in the way of traditional elven behavior, she has the ability to communicate and understand others, being able to understand and speak both Sindarin and Quenya taught at an early age by her mother, and some broken bits of Khuzdul the language of the Dwarfs by dwarf wanderers, and even broken bits of the language of men that pass through the woods. She speaks forcefully but softly, usually out of sight and hidden.

Daughter of Eryniel, a Noldorin soldier, and Sídhiel, a Sindarin healer. While nearly at the end of her pregnancy Sídhiel and Eryniel traveled to Mirkwood wanting to live in the courts of Thranduil and to speak to the king to make arrangements for Eryniel to join his guard. On the way their traveling group was ambushed by orcs, most were killed and Eryniel tried to carry his wife to safety only to be surrounded. They killed him with arrows and then mutilated his body in front of the heavily pregnant Sídhiel. They took her captive and over the next few days fought over who would get to eat her and the baby. Amidst the violent fighting Sídhiel slipped away and managed the long trek into Mirkwood, trying to make it to the northern most side of the woods where her dead husband's cousin lived. She only made it to the edge of the woods before she had to find shelter to give birth in.
In an old cave Sídhiel gave birth to a daughter whom she named Vanya, since she was born in Mirkwood/Eryn Lasgalen. Unable to leave the area due to being weak and having to take care of a newborn, Sídhiel stayed in the cave and used her thorough knowledge of flora and fauna to feed her daughter and herself. Though she grew weak and while she loved her daughter more than anything her love for Eryniel weighed heavily on her mind and heart. Lamenting deeply she began to diminish growing weaker as her daughter grew older and wiser. Sídhiel taught her daughter all she knew about her father Eryniel and of the world of the elves, men, dwarves, and monsters such as orcs, goblins, dragons, and even taught her how to speak Sindarin and Quenya.
In her daughter's 18th year, Sídhiel decided it was time to head to the realm of the woodland elves in the north of Mirkwood but this would prove to be her undoing. On the way through the wood their campfire was spotted by a few traveling 'traders'. These bandit men demanded her trinkets and all the food she owned. Already weakened and with a heavy heart she handed over all she had of value. The men weren't going to stop there though. Seeing as she was such a beautiful elf, they demanded her or they would kill Vanya. Not being able to bear such a thought she attacked them telling Vanya to escape into the woods and hide. Doing what her mother told her to do Vanya ran deep into the woods hearing the pained screams of her mother as they beat her until they simply faded away.
Unable to let it end that way, Vanya turned around and ran back to where she had ran from, grabbing a jagged rock along the way. The scene she came upon haunts her to this day. She took the rock and bashed it against the back of the offending man's head until he collapsed, his two friends rushed at her and grabbed her by the arms and hair. Vanya twisted and tore herself away from them, striking at them with the bloodied rock till they too were on the forest floor bleeding to death. Huffing and crying from terrible emotions and grief Vanya turned back to look at her mother, seeing what they had done she fell to her knees and curled up next to her holding her tightly as she passed away from this world.
From then on she hated men and anyone other than herself. Vanya lived off the woods like she had learned from her mother and made this place her home. Year after year the bitterness grew in her as did her knowledge of the woods. As she learned from the bandits, Vanya began attacking 'trespassers' in her little area of woods, taking from them weapons, armor, clothes, and new foods and even bits of languages. Vanya started to run supply missions against the wood elves to take some of their surplus for herself. Unfortunately since her views on the world were skewed and her mother never got to tell her to run to the wood elves for help, Vanya -named Thaliel by said wood elves who saw and had to deal with her annoyances- views them only as a source of supplies and nothing more.
For the last 3oo years, Vanya has been doing pretty much the same thing she always had to do to survive. She has always remained in Mirkwood. Living this mostly lonely existence has crippled her social skills as she has only the random encounter with travelers, bandits, and Thranduil's soldier's to keep them sharp.
