Isadriel awoke later than usual that day. She realized this when she opened her eyes and saw the sun high up in the sky from the window of her chambers. Rubbing her eyes groggily, she glanced around, only to discover the large dusty book still open on her lap from the previous night. That was perhaps why she felt so tired and slept in late - she had spent most of the night reading the Elvish writing by the light of a solitary candle. Before she realized what the time was, the first rays of the sun had started penetrating the darkness and Isadriel had simply drifted to sleep with the book wide open in front of her.
She wondered why her maid had not woken her up as she normally did, but knowing Edith, she had probably surmised that her mistress had not had much rest. See, it was becoming a bit of a regular occurrence for the Queen to be up until the early hours of the morning, reading. Nobody dared argue with her decision to remain awake or chastise her for straining her eyesight. They simply refused to awaken her early the following morning. Of course her husband would chastise her at times but she merely explained she didn't have time to read any other time except into the evening, she had far too many duties to complete during the day.
Getting out of bed she quickly changed into one of her many gowns, a simple silver and blue one before she would head to the Great Commons today. She wanted to walk among the merchants and see what they were selling today. Isadriel stepped out of her chambers and began her trek to her destination, passing a few guards and servants as she went with a small smile on her lips in greeting.
