MotW Canon List
While a few of our No canon character limit at this time. Please just be courteous and do not, for example, ask to write the prince of every realm. Share the fun! You may use any canon not in play as a minor NPC in your threads. If the thread results in some development to that canon's story please let staff know so we can update them on the canons list. Those in color/capital letters are currently claimed. Please note that if you walk away from a canon character, that character may be replaced and carried by another player after 1 month of absence (if you have not posted an Away message).

Original Characters on MotW
Original characters are encouraged and more than welcome! Most of our site characters and plots are originals, the canons are only a staging point for what our writers create!
"Men of the West" is widely referred to as the men (and women) of the regions of the Reunited Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor, as well as Rohan. By this period in the fourth age, the King had conquered many of the warring lands. You may craft characters from Near and Far Harad, Khand, and Rhun. For various reasons, all of human society is more blended in the fourth age than it was in the third, with intermarriages between realms, though whether such marriages are accepted in society depends on specific traditions, social castes, and prejuidices. Annúminas is a multicultural city, populated not only the residents of Arnorian and Gondorian descent, but the households of the Ambassadors, who may have brought with them loremasters, healers, their own advisors, and servants, as well as the merchants and traders who follow.
Beyond the races of men, Elves still dwell in the region of Eryn Lasgalen. You may write the long lived Dúnedain, the Dwarves of the mountain regions, and the Hobbits of the Shire. Along with the fading of the elves, many may intermarry and produce Half-elves, especially Dúnedain who wish to strengthen their bloodlines. While all half-elven are mortal, their lifespan is like that of the Dúnedain. The same can be said of intermarriage, while rare, between the men of Rohan and the Dwarves of Aglarond and their Half-dwarvish offspring. And indeed, there was once a story of a Took who ran away with a dwarf, though Half-halfling is a mouthful and their resulting son was merely considered among the tallest of hobbits, his fame of height lending him the position of Mayor for half a term.
If you wish to break beyond flesh and bone humanoids, feel free to write one of the Great Eagles, an Ent of Taur Edain, a Huorn or Willow Hag, a River Daughter, a stray Orc, or perhaps a Barrow Wight or Ghost of the tombs. Just keep in mind, the creatures live for the most part outside the city and may gain fewer plots. I recommend them for a second character!
Please do not create these types of characters:
- Valar/Gods
- Elves who returned from Valinor (once they sail, they stay!)
- Half-elves who are immortal.
- Original wizards beyond the three canon.
- Races and species which are not listed (bring something up to admin first to see if it works if you have an idea!)
