”We do not have many trees. The wood at the foot of the Starkhorn—Ceol took me there last year. I had never seen anything like it. It was beautiful.”
The trees are something that I love dearly. It might sound odd but they speak. Elves of old can hear them, but my mother taught me to listen. Adanedhel smiled as the little one barely moved to get more comfortable. I think it will do everyone good to see trees and listen. It is certainly a good way to find peace. He looked over at Runa, seeing her rummaging around still.
“Mirkwood,”
Adanedhel nodded and held some sadness in his eyes. Yes, it is a pity it is called so. Our king has withdrawn from much of the world and the reason perhaps is because of what happened last time elves had helped.. So many died in that war. Adanedhel has witness too many of his kin falling in battle, blood oozing from their bodies.
"Wolves are no strange thing to Rohan, but…I don’t…travel much.” Runa looked a little frightened about the mentioning of large spiders. If you were to ever travel North, you might stumble upon Mirkwood’s borders. Though, there are others on patrol and would soon find you and keep you safe from such creatures. That is, if you were to one day travel.
Ceolmund though, might not let his wife ever travel. Such a pity. Elf women could go travel when they pleased. They had.. more freedoms he supposed. But, Runa also had children. Well, it certainly would not stop some elleths that he knew. Well, elleth. He knew of Tauriel when he was much younger and she was the type to do whatever she wished when she wished it.
“I wonder if Ceol’s seen...?”
Adan blinked out of his thoughts and looked back to Runa once more. She was nibbling on some cheese and bread that he and Paega made together. "Has your king—the one in the halls—started the soldiers after them? Spiders that large, I can’t imagine.” Oh yes, he has many that go searching for their nests. The King himself will sometimes go and lead the party of elves. If not him, then his son will. The prince is a good elf. He is very kind once you get to know him.
Runa seemed to be full of questions, much like a child would be. He did not mind, everyone had to learn and they had to by asking questions. She was curious and Adan wasn’t afraid of telling her. Perhaps if more of her people knew such things, the more they would understand and come to like the elves. Perhaps the elves would like them as well if they learned more about them.
"Did she…leave with you?”
Adan shook his head. No, she was still at our home when I.. I was captured. Orcs were in our borders and I went in search without anyone with me.. and well, the rest you know, I suppose. I had been tortured for sometime before I met Wyn and gotten stabbed by a morgul blade. The elf slightly shivered on the thought. He hated the feeling of such evil touching him.
“My mother and father have always been close with my brother and I. And to Ceol. I know what happiness a mother can bring. Ceol’s mother—actually, she doesn’t deserve to be called that—Elin. You are lucky you didn’t have to meet her. She was a terrible woman. I always felt so bad for him, when he was young.”
Reminds me of my father. His name is Saeros, or “bitter rain” in common tongue. There is a reason why he is named such, for everywhere he goes he brings bitterness that bites you like the cold rain. Adan sighed a bit and mentally thought of his father’s face. It was safe to say that he actually missed the elf that did not love him as his son. My mother and I have a stronger connection. We know normally where the other one is.. and I’m not too sure how exactly. I just always know and so does she. Though now, I do not know where she is.
I have spoken to Ceolmund before.. about this Elin. He and I had a small understanding of the other since we both have one parent that isn’t really a parent. It is truly a sad thing that he did not have a good mother, but I suppose his father was there, right?
