"A lot can change. Very quickly. You have a lot of years ahead. Maybe this is just preparing you for something.”
Adan nodded, looking at Eormund and smiling. Perhaps you’re right. Maybe one day he would enjoy this once more, only it being his own. To think of having his own one day made him feel a lightness in his heart that he had felt in a long time.
"He loves it so much, it must be in his heart already,”
The song is a classic. Anyone would love it once they hear it. Adanedhel gently touched the baby’s hair while Runa touched his cheek. He wondered though, once he left, would they ever truly remember him? And if they did, would it be only the bad things everyone thought of him as? Adan cared for Paega, Eormund, and Runa. He even cared for Ceol even if the man did not like him.
The people of Edoras were not all bad and perhaps one day, elves and men could rejoin as an alliance of some sort. Though, Adan thought it was very unlikely. He admired their courage, their strength.
The sound of little feet made Adan’s head turn to look and see sweet little Paega coming in. Did she have a nightmare? The thought worried the elf and he watched her as she spoke to Runa.
"Adawn!”
Adan smiled at her, letting Runa take the baby. Hello, fileg, small bird, he said in his native tongue. You are up late! The little girl was holding her toy, looking sweet as ever. The innocence of a child was always something special.
"Adawn, can you tell me a story? Sometimes Papa tells me a story. It helps me sweep.”
And just like that, Paega crawled into his lap, having the elf hold her so she wouldn’t fall. A story, I see. I wonder, which one would you enjoy most? One from when I was as small as you or one my Mother had told me when I was but a little elfling?
"Papa can hear it too!”
The words made Adan smile, but inwardly he was worried. If Ceol knew he told stories of the elvish culture to his child, he might not like it. Runa might be fine with hearing such stories, but would Ceol allow such things in his home? I could tell you two stories, one of each, if you’d like?
